I hate people who say "It's just a movie".

Piss off if that's the best critical input you can give. "It's just a book"... It's just a TV show" ... I can't watch this movie again because of dumb assed writing that includes fingerprints in brick dust.

Hey,

I personally thought that Heath's portrayal of The Joker was really good. In fact the only reason I even enjoy the film is because of his performance as The Joker. It certainly isn't the wooden performances of Aaron Eckhart or Bale. The only good dialogue in the film I believe comes during The Jokers scenes. I wasn't aware of Heath's death until after I saw the film, and to be honest I couldn't care less about his death so it didn't alter my opinion of his acting. (Other than the fact it was a stupid waste of talent) So I would agree with you any point concerning the appalling dialogue, absurd plot devices and typical rubbish you expect from superhero films. However, I can't agree with you on your point about Heath because I thought his acting was excellent. Feel free to disagree with me because it's your choice.

"people like a little thrill, but generally there’s not much to a roller coaster ride, though there could be i guess"

These people saying it's just the experience and crap are all IDIOTS.

Let's use a good quote to make my point (the quote is about Avatar):

"so people say to me that Avatar wasn't supposed to be about the plot. It was about feeling the experience of being on Pandora. Oh, is that what all this 3D shit is going to turn movies into? Like theme park rides? Like I probably wouldn't bitch about the plot to 'The Star Trek Experience', or 'Jurassic Park: The ride', 'cause it's like, a ride. Like, you know, Pirates of the Caribbean! Shit, that's been in 3D for for 40 years!"

Ok, that was a long quote, but here's the point:

It's a movie. When it comes to movies, of all types, you have a RIGHT to complain about plot elements in the film, because movies are PLOT DRIVEN. If the plot is simple, the complaints won't be that many, but if the plot is supposed to be complex like TDK is, then a LOT of room for problems will ultimately lead to a justified list of complaints.

TDK IS NOT A THEME PARK RIDE. DON'T PRETEND LIKE IT IS. It isn't "just a movie".

You can like it or dislike it, in fact, I liked it. But the facts remain: There are FLAWS in the movie, so don't dispel any argument brought up simply because "it's supposed to be entertainment."

You guys fail to grasp the use of "realism" in certain context. He may use a realistic setting for a super hero movie, but not one for an action movie.
I'm just going to mention 2 recent action movie receiving the Academy Awards and their subsequent realistic issues: The Departed and No Country for Old Men.
First one, the undercover police agent (played by DiCaprio) would never had the chance of joining the ranks of that mob. And the second one - the final scene. He survives a friggin car crash and walks away, albeit very slow and under lots of pain.
And those two weren't even showcased as potential blockbusters, especially the second one.
Heck, even 2001: A space odyssey (one of the most realistic movies in existence, even to the point of showcasing the realistic boringness of human life) portrays humans like a dolls, in a totally unrealistic way.
If realistic is only portrayed on certain elements, it doesn't make it less realistic. The stuff from TDK are highly improbable BUT still possible in real life, even if by luck. As compared to being a mutated organism with super-powers.

I agree with this completely, to the people that don't, so you are saying that Bruce Wayne, a multi-billionair bachelor who is always being hounded by the media, so he has to stay active, and make up stories as to what he is doing when he is really being batman, has the freedom of not being spied on in his penthouse? Yet he has to make elaborate covers like super model yatch trip? Give me a break, this movie is horrible.

I'm confused as to why every one thinks it would take so long to evacuate a building, did it take you guys more than a day, hour or even 30 mins to evacuate your schools during fire drills?? Do you think hospitals fire plan is to leave everyone in there to burn to death?? 5 minutes to evacuate a hosptial...and that's probly too lonng of an estimate
